Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell is a Washington D.C.-based American TV journalist, anchor and anchor and. Mitchell graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a diploma from the department of English literature. In the year 1967, Mitchell became a reporter for KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. In 1976 she was a part of the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV which was based in Washington DC (then WTOP). Two years later she became a general reporter for NBC News in Washington. The year 1981 saw her begin working for the White House and became chief congressional correspondent in 1988. Mitchell was appointed the Chief White House correspondent in 1992. And the chief correspondent for foreign affairs at NBC News. Mitchell has appeared as an anchor and a panelist on the TV news show Meet the Press. She was part of the panel during the 1988 Presidential Debates, which featured George Bush, and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married with Alan Greenspan, former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. In 2005, Mitchell received the prestigious Goldsmith Career Award for Excellence in Journalism from the John F. Kennedy School of Government and in 2004 the Radio-Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) awarded Mitchell with the Leonard Zeidenberg Award in recognition of her work in the defense and protection of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was the first reporter to report on White House stories for NBC News during Ronald Reagan's tenure in office from 1981 to 1988. Her coverage included a variety of important stories like the Iran-Contra controversy, tax and budget reforms in addition to the arms control. She traveled extensively together with the president Reagan for summits along with Mikhail Gorbachev.
